Parish of Somerton, March 8th 1883.
At a Vestry held this day in the Vestry Room of this Parish pursuant to due Notice of which the following is a copy:
Notice is hereby given that a Vestry will be held in the Vestry Room of this Parish on Thursday 8th March inst at 12 o’clock at noon for the purpose of making a representation to the Local Government Board on the Divided Parish Act, and the inconvenience to Somerton if the land is Kingsmoor is separated therefrom and to propose a new boundary and take the opinion of the Vestry thereon.

Resolved that it is desirable a new boundary be proposed to the Local Government Board for the Parish of Somerton.
That such Boundary be the new road, so much of Long Sutton as lies east of that road being added to Somerton, so much of Kingsmoor as lies east of that road being in Somerton, and so much as lies west being added to Long Sutton, which was carried unanimously.
The following persons were appointed to form a committee, viz: F H Dickinson, Esq, F W Pinney Esq, Mr W D Snook, J I Hodges, Wm Nutt junior, James parsons, Esq, for carrying out the above resolution.

Parish of Somerton, March 26th 1883.
At a Vestry held this day in the Vestry room of this Parish pursuant to due notice of which the following is a copy:
Notice is hereby given that a Vestry will be held in the Vestry Room of this Parish on Monday 26th inst at 11 o’clock in the forenoon for the purpose of appointing churchwardens and Overseers for the ensuing year, and also to elect members of the Burial Board in place of the retiring members, who are eligible for re-election.
The collector and expenditor for Sedgemoor will produce his accounts and ask for a new rate.

The Rev W H Strong chose Mr Wm Jennings to continue as Vicar’s churchwarden.
Proposed by Mr Hodges and seconded by Mr Robert H Scriven that Mr W D Snook continue as Parish churchwarden, which was carried unanimously.
Proposed by F W Pinney Esq and seconded by Mr John Talbot that Mr G Walter and Mr George Pittard be added to the list of names to act as Overseers – carried.
Proposed by Mr John Peddle and seconded by Mr H W Ord that the present Waywardens continue in office – carried unanimously.
Proposed by F W Pinney Esq and seconded by Mr W Jennings that the retiring members of the Burial Board be re-elected – carried.
List of Burial Board – Mr Wm Jennings, John Talbot, F S Crocker, Robert H Scriven, George H Cossins, Rev W H Strong, Col Pinney, W D Snook.
Proposed by Mr W D Snook and seconded by Mr John Talbot that a Rate of 2/6 a common be granted to the expenditor of Sedgemoor, which was unanimously granted.
The following persons were nominated to serve the office of Overseers, viz:
Mr Wm Snook, junior and Mr George Nutt; Robert House Scriven and Mr John Crocker; Fred Gare and Mr James Thompson; John Wyatt and J I Hodges; G Walter and Mr George Pittard.
The meeting was adjourned to 26th April 1883 when the churchwardens accounts, Burial, Charity and Overseers accounts will be produced for inspection.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

At a Vestry held this day in the Vestry room of this Parish pursuant to due notice of which the following is a copy:
Notice is hereby given that the adjourned Vestry will be held in the Vestry room on Thursday next the 26th inst at 11 o’clock in the forenoon for the purpose of examining the Churchwardens, Charity, Overseers and Burial Board accounts.
Also to grant the Overseers a Poor and Sanitary Rate to meet the expences of the next half year.

The churchwardens’ accounts were produced, examined and found correct.
Proposed by Mr James Parsons and seconded by Rev W H Strong that Mr William Peddle’s salary be raised from twenty-two pounds ten shillings to twenty-five pounds yearly, which was carried unanimously.
The Charity accounts were examined and found correct.
The Overseers’ accounts were produced, examined and passed.
Proposed by Mr Wm Nutt and seconded by Mr H W Ord that a Poor Rate of 1/1 in the £ be granted to the Overseers, which was carried.
Proposed by Mr W D Snook and seconded by Rev W H Strong that a Rate of 10d on houses and orchards and 2½d on land in the £ be granted to the Overseers to meet the Sanitary Orders made on them – which was carried.
The Burial board accounts were then produced, examined and passed.

At a Vestry held this day I the Vestry room of this Parish pursuant to due Notice of which the following is a copy:
Notice is hereby given that a Vestry will be held in the Vestry room of this Parish on Thursday next the 23rd instant at 11 o’clock in the forenoon for the purpose of appointing a Collector and Expenditor of the Rhines Rate in place of Mr Robert House Scriven who wishes to retire.

Proposed by rev W H Strong and seconded by Mr W D Snook that James Mead be appointed Collector and Expenditor of the Rhine Rate on the same terms as it has been done by Mr Scriven, which was carried.

At a Vestry held this day in the Vestry room of this Parish pursuant to due notice of which the following is a copy:
Notice is hereby given that a Vestry will be held in the Vestry room of this Parish on Thursday next the 25th October at 11 o’clock in the forenoon for the purpose of granting a Poor and Sanitary Rate to the Overseers to meet the current expences of the next half year.
Also to consider the necessity of granting a Gas Rate to meet a bill rendered by Messrs Thomas & Co for the supply of Gas to the Public Lamps.

Proposed by Mr John Head and seconded by Mr Wm Snook that a Rate of 1/1 in the £ be granted to the Overseers to meet the demands to be paid from the Poor Rate; carried.
Proposed by Mr Wm Snook and seconded by Mr John Head that a Rate of ¼ on house and orchard property and 4d in the £ on land be granted the overseers to meet the Sanitary Order, which was carried.
Proposed by Mr John Head and seconded by Mr Wm Snook junior that a Gas Rate of 6d in the £ be granted to meet the a/c rendered by Messrs Thomas & Co, which was granted.
